I would prefer to die before …. – Ex-BBNAIJA Maria
Maria Chike Benjamin says she has two fears in life.
The ex-Big Brother Naija season contestant said the first one would be losing any of her family members and the second, being broke.
The 29-year-old who was born in England, with her mother being English and her father of the Igbo tribe, said her fear is so intense to the level she would prefer to pass on before her mother.
“My greatest fear – and I’d never wish it on anyone – is losing my family members, any of my family members,” she opened up in an exclusive interview with VL Magazine. “I mean I have lost my dad and that really took me into depression for a little while. So yeah, I love my family so much, so my greatest fear would be losing any of them.”
Her response came after she was asked what her greatest fear was and how she manages fear generally.
Continuing Maria, who had previously worked as a cabin crew at Emirates Airline, said: “And I know no parent would want to lose their child before they go. But I would rather have it the other way round: I’d rather go before my mom honestly.”
She added: “I have two greatest fear actually, that would be losing any of my family members and being broke.”
Maria spoke about a lot of things. She said she had been greatly misunderstood by a multitude of people, adding: “I’m a very emotional person but a lot of people think I’m a hardened criminal”.
The Shine ya eye star further said she is not a materialistic person, adding that she is working hard to ensure her future children and generation have the best they can get.
As for what drives her, Maria said, “my greatest inspiration is my father”.
She said he was a hardworking man who provided everything for her – but not in a spoilt way. Maria said her late father loved her mother wholeheartedly.
She however noted that he was hated by some people when he eventually ventured into politics. The hate stemmed from his bluntness, Maria said. She said her late dad always stood for what was right, a trait which she also carries.
Meanwhile, Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday last night met with Maria.
She described the reality star as a “fine” and “sweet” girl, adding: “She’s clean to the teeth.”
