How Senior Student Allegedly Slit A Junior’s Throat In Borno | READ DETAILS

An 11-year old junior student of the Elkanemi Islamic Theology College, Maiduguri, Borno state, is currently in critical condition after a senior student allegedly slit his throat.

According to reports, the senior student whose name has been concealed by the school management left the young lad, Jubril in a pool of blood for refusing to run errands for him.

A source from the school who spoke to journalists revealed the incident took place on Sunday, the 16th of January 2022, but the school management resolved to conceal it with the intention of keeping it away from the public.

Describing the incident, the source stated;

“The senior colleague, from SS2 class, had sent Jubril on an errand, but he didn’t go. That fateful night, he came to pick him up and took him to a quiet place where he used a razor blade to severely cut his neck, injuring most of his arteries, nerves and trachea.”

The source went on to add the victim, Jubril struggled and took himself to the principal’s office, where he finally broke down in unconsciousness.

Jubril  was immediately rushed to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where he currently lays in critical state at the Intensive Care Unit. The perpetrator, who was said to be indoctrinated on psychotropic substances was subsequently arrested and handed over to the police for further investigation.

 

A teacher in the school, who also spoke to journalists lamented re-occurrence of armed violence cases in the school, confirming Jubril’s case is not the first. The teacher added the school management sweeps such cases under the carpet, creating more victims.

“This is not the first case of armed violence in the college. There are several other cases relating to sexual abuse and armed violence, but the school management had swept it under the carpet. This is likely to mean we are creating more victims as a result of our failure to act,”
