Peter Obi dropped political bombshells during an explosive X Space interview with Nigerians, from criticizing Tinubu to outlining bold 2027 strategies. Read the full story.

Nigeria’s political space was set ablaze on Sunday night as the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, took to X (formerly Twitter) in an electrifying audio session with Nigerians that drew over 194,000 listeners, including more than 12,000 anonymous participants.

From promises to radically overhaul governance in just two years, to criticisms of President Tinubu’s failure to engage other parts of Nigeria, Obi didn’t hold back. With the 2027 elections gradually heating up, Obi’s remarks have thrown a fresh spotlight on the growing dissatisfaction with the current regime.

“I WILL FIX NIGERIA IN TWO YEARS” — PETER OBI

In what many consider the boldest political statement of the year, Obi declared:

“If given the opportunity, I will bring stability to Nigeria within two years in office.”

He outlined his first 100-day plan, promising to focus on:

  • National security
  • Education revitalization
  • Poverty eradication
  • Cutting the cost of governance
  • Zero tolerance for corruption

“My family and I will not be involved in corruption. Public funds will be directed to critical sectors. Nigeria must work for the people,” Obi assured.

“I BELIEVE IN ROTATIONAL PRESIDENCY AND I’M READY TO LEAVE BY 2031”

Obi emphasized his support for the rotation of power between the North and South, revealing that he implemented similar zoning as Governor in Anambra.

“If there’s an agreement that I should only serve one term, I’ll respect it and leave by May 28, 2031,” he stated.

TINUBU SLAMMED FOR “GOVERNING FROM LAGOS AND ST. LUCIA”

In a sharp jab at President Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi condemned the President’s travel pattern, stating:

“Since taking office, Tinubu has never spent a night in any Nigerian state outside Lagos. Yet he plans to spend 10 days in St. Lucia.”

He likened this to abandoning the country at a time when the majority are suffering under economic hardship, insecurity, and hunger.

“I AM NOT DISCUSSING JOINT TICKET WITH ATIKU OR ANYONE”

Obi quashed speculations about forming a joint ticket with PDP’s Atiku Abubakar or other 2023 political figures.

“I have not joined in any form of discussion on joint tickets. We are building our movement differently in 2027,” he affirmed.

He emphasized a non-violent resistance approach, vowing that “results will not be manipulated in Abuja again.”

“I WILL PROVIDE A STRONG OPPOSITION — NO DEFECTIONS UNDER ME!”

Peter Obi pledged to reshape party politics in Nigeria, starting with internal discipline.

“There will be no defection of elected officials under my leadership. If you win under our party, you stay loyal or face consequences,” he warned.

He reaffirmed commitment to the Labour Party, stating:

“We are still in the right part of LP and still pursuing INEC recognition of our leadership.”

On coalition politics, Obi stated that Nigerians are free to choose their parties but hinted that a unified political front may soon emerge.

“IF YOU BREAK THE LAW, I’LL DEAL WITH YOU — EVEN IF WE LAUGH TOGETHER”

Obi sent a warning shot to future collaborators:

“That I laugh or relate with you doesn’t mean I won’t deal with you if you break the law.”

“NO SECURITY, NO FARMING” — AGRICULTURE LINKED TO NATIONAL SAFETY

On insecurity, Peter Obi stressed:

“The more secure the country, the more the farmers will go to their farms. We must secure Nigeria to feed Nigeria.”
