Senator Adolphus Wabara, PDP BOT Chairman, has once again praised Governor Alex Otti’s governance in Abia, declaring that no one can suspend him for speaking the truth. Read the full details of his bold statement here.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Senate President, and ex-President of the National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Adolphus Wabara, has once again commended Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, OFR, for his remarkable strides in governance.
Senator Wabara made the statement on Sunday, February 16, during the 80th birthday celebration of Dr. Godswill Emelike Okoro, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) under ex-Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s first tenure. The event, held at the International Conference Center, Umuahia, became a platform for the PDP stalwart to reaffirm his stance on Governor Otti’s leadership and developmental efforts.
Wabara Declares: ‘I Was Abian Before I Was PDP’
Addressing the gathering, Wabara emphasized that his loyalty to Abia State precedes his political affiliations.
“Before becoming a PDP card-carrying member, before joining the NRC in this state, I, Adolphus Nduneweh Wabara, was first and foremost a citizen of Abia,” he declared.
He went further to state that politics should end after elections, and governance should take center stage. “Even a blind man can see what is happening in Abia! I will say it again, and if they like, let them expel me now that they claim I was suspended,” Wabara stated defiantly.
‘Nobody Can Suspend Me for Speaking the Truth’ – Wabara
The former Senate President, who has remained vocal about Governor Otti’s achievements, vowed that no one in the PDP has the power to suspend him for stating the obvious.
“I will be one of those who will continue to appreciate you, Governor Otti. I have never mentioned Labour Party; I have always mentioned Governor Alex Otti because of his work. We are all with you,” he affirmed.
Senator Wabara pointed out that despite resistance from certain political quarters, Governor Otti is successfully repositioning Abia, recovering the state from the ruins of bad governance.
Dr. Emelike Okoro Applauds Otti’s Road Projects
Speaking at his birthday celebration, Dr. Emelike Okoro hailed Governor Otti for bringing a “breath of fresh air” to Abia. He particularly commended the Governor for flagging off the reconstruction of the Onuinyang-Oporoenyi Oboro Road, which connects Bende LGA (Abia North) to Ikwuano LGA (Abia Central), emphasizing that the project would boost the agricultural sector in the state.
Dr. Okoro also revealed an interesting conversation he had with Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe regarding the 2023 governorship election. He recounted telling Abaribe that he preferred a fresh perspective in leadership rather than supporting his gubernatorial ambition.
“Alex Otti, you have brought that fresh air,” the octogenarian stated, adding that one of the things that amazes him about Otti is his accessibility. “The Governor always answers my calls,” he revealed.
Governor Otti: ‘Respect for Elders Must Return’
In his remarks, Governor Alex Otti congratulated Dr. Okoro, describing him as a father figure and mentor whose influence transcends politics. The Governor reiterated that his administration does not tolerate segregation, emphasizing that all law-abiding residents of Abia, regardless of their origins, are full-fledged Abians.
He called for a return to Igbo cultural values of respecting elders, warning that those who insult elders in the name of politics should desist, as such actions could bring unintended consequences.
“As a mark of respect for our elders, I am here today to celebrate Dr. Okoro. And irrespective of political differences, I will be back here at the International Conference Center to celebrate Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who will turn 70 on March 1st, and Senator Chris Adighije, who will mark his 80th birthday on March 22nd,” Otti announced.
With this latest endorsement from a top PDP leader, Governor Otti continues to receive bipartisan commendation for his governance style and developmental agenda in Abia State.
