How NFF Failed To Adhere To FIFA’s Directive- Gernot Rohr

Over a month after the world football governing body, FIFA intervened in the almost chaotic relationship between the Nigeria Football Federation,NFF and dismissed Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, the German manager has revealed the bargain is yet to be fulfilled.

By FIFA’s directive, the NFF is to pay Rohr $377,879.46 in compensation for ending his contract early.

Rohr who is the nation’s longest-serving manager was laid off last December following a run of poor performances. He led Nigeria in 58 matches, winning 31 and losing 14.

According to the ruling by the FIFA’s players’ status chamber in May, the world football governing body will impose restrictions if the NFF does not pay Rohr within 45 days.

If full payment (including all applicable interest) is not made within 45 days of notification of this decision, the respondent (the NFF) shall be imposed a restriction on receiving a percentage of development funding, up until the due amounts are paid,” FIFA stated.

While the NFF had agreed to pay the Franco-German’s salary until the end of his contract which expires in December 2022, Rohr who was apparently displeased with the NFF’s resolve went to FIFA to demand an additional sum for “breach of contract without just cause.”

He demanded a total of £1m, but was granted $377,879.46 after a FIFA tribunal decided his claim was “partially accepted insofar as it is admissible.”

Speaking with PUNCH Sports Extra, the 68-year-old said, “The 45-day ultimatum (by FIFA) is over and I’m yet to be paid my compensation. No appeal.”
