It was gathered that Kamorudeen Islamic Society of Nigeria organised a special prayer for Nigeria which was attended by members of the organisation across the state.

Recalling the incident, the Chief Imam of the mosque, Alhaji Quoseem Yunus, said;

“We were outside our mosque, having special prayers on Sunday when the masquerade and his men appeared. Four policemen were with them.

“They passed us by and moved down. They later returned to where we all sat and started pelting us with stones. They later shot at us and used machete on us. One person was killed. We have taken the corpse to UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital Morgue. Nine others are receiving treatment in other hospitals in Osogbo.”

One Moshood Salawudeen, the leader of the organisation in Iwo, Osun state, was reportedly shot dead during the attack. Those who sustained injury are;  Abduljeleel Ali, 12, sustained gunshot injuries on the chest and leg; Adebayo Awolesin, 15, was shot in the arm.

Others are; Taofeeq Fatai, 17 and Maliq Abdukabir, 17, all undergoing treatment in Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

Speaking with DAILY POST during a visit to the hospital, Isiaka Ajagbe, 37, alleged that the masquerade was led by one Kayode Esuleke.

“They were first throwing stones and also started firing guns at us. They destroyed the mosque. We are on our own.”
