A man in Cross River State has beheaded his aunty, and inflicted machete wounds on a male police officer after efforts were made to arrest him.

Christian Edem Eyo, 24, reportedly confessed to the crime, claiming that the woman wanted to seduce him.

We gathered that the suspect, also known as Etebong, did not flee after the incident which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at about 5 am.

This news outlet has learned that Eyo, who is said to be possessed, waited for police to arrive. It is reported that he was shot at but the bullets could not penetrate. He was handcuffed but the handcuff did not hold his hands, not until the rings and necklaces he wore were collected from him.

A wíthness, one Grace Edem, said it was a worshipper in a nearby church, having an all-night prayer session who noticed when the suspect was burying a decapitated body.

The deceased was killed after leaving her apartment to use a bathroom.

The witness said Eyo took the head of the deceased into his apartment before the church members raised alarm and invited a local vigilante group who in turn rang the Mbukpa divisional police, few metres away.

“Upon the arrival of the police team, Christian, the suspect, allegedly confronted them and macheted one personnel before he was overpowered and taken away,” the witness said. ”The scene has been besieged by neighbours and thousands of passersby who decried his persistent mystical and ritual activities.”

The fresh head of the woman was seen inside a darkroom close to many mystical items such as candles, flowers, oils and other fetish items.

Also found in his room were two graves and a deep hole.

While confessing before journalists, the suspect reportedly said: “I am 24 years old. I work as a bouncer at 125 Old Ikang Road Calabar. The woman wanted to seduce me. The deep hole you saw inside my apartment is an empowerment area. That’s where I empower myself.”
