How Lightning Killed 2, Injured Others In Imo | READ DETAILS
Two persons have allegedly been struck dead by lightning in Ndegwu community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State while four were left injured.
The victims; Mr.Emeka Gerald Mbah, (39) from Umuejekaubi Umuahum Ndegwu, and his friend, Mr. Chigbumkpa Ernest Odionyenma,( 36) from Umuadi Umuogwuta in Ndegwu Community, were said to have died instantly when the thunder struck during a heavy rain pour at about 5 pm.
Speaking to Dailypost, an eyewitness, Mr. Stanley Opara said the deceased and the injured were working as laborers at a building site in Umuogwuta village in Ndegwu when the incident happened.
According to Opara, those who survived were thrown away into the building’s foundation and were seriously injured.
“It was like an electric spark and a heavy thunderstorm that shook the entire community. People were screaming in front of the site and when we rushed out we saw two figures lying down,” he said.
