How Landlady Allegedly Killed Tenant Over Pot In Ondo | READ DETAILS

A 45-year-old landlady, identified only as Mrs Folasade, has been arrested by operatives of the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly killing her tenant, Mrs Omolola Oladipupo, over a pot.

The incident happened in Taotao Street, in the Lotogbe area of Ondo State.

According to eyewitnesses, the landlady hit the deceased on the head during an argument that ensued between them in the kitchen, leading to her death.

The suspect and the deceased were always having disagreements, but the latest incident turned fatal after the suspect accused Omolola of walking across her pot in the kitchen, sources said.

Narrating the incident to newsmen, the deceased’s husband, Mr Ikudabo Oladipupo, said;

“I was inside the room when I heard the voices of my wife and our landlady. I heard my wife saying she wanted to pass, and that the landlady should move her pot away from the pathway to the kitchen, but my landlady said she would not move the pot.

“She told my wife to pass somewhere else. So, as my wife wanted to pass by the side of the pot, my landlady held her and pushed her away.

“Before I would come out of the house, my landlady had pushed my wife on the floor. When I saw her condition, I quickly rushed her to a hospital where she was confirmed dead.

“My wife and I stayed in the same house. She had three children for me. My wife was already prepared to go to the market where she sold cow hide (ponmo) when the incident happened.

“Her corpse has been deposited in the general hospital’s morgue.”

However, the suspect denied hitting the deceased on the head.

According to her, “She crossed over my food while I was cooking and I held her neck. She held my wrapper and removed it. I was not wearing any underwear or dress, so I pushed her and she fell on the floor.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said that investigations had commenced.
