The State Commandant of the agency, Bamidele Akingbade, who confirmed the attack to journalists, said the incident occurred at about 3pm.
According to Akingbade, the hoodlums, who succeeded in setting ablaze only a section of the office complex, aimed at releasing suspects detained in the facility.
He said the suspects were relocated out of the facility, in the wake of Monday’s attack on the nearby office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He further revealed that no loss was recorded as their weapons were intact and all important official documents were stored in a fire-proof safe.
Meanwhile, the Abia state government, through the commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu said the perpetrators of the attacks will be brought to book.
