How Gunmen Invaded Imo Police Station, Damaged Facilities| READ DETAILS

Yet to be identified gunmen on Thursday, January 6, invaded Dikenafai police Division In Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo state.

According to the police, the assailants gained access into the facility, shooting sporadically and throwing explosive devices.

Spokesperson of the state command, Michael Abattam said the explosives caused little damage to pars of the station, while police operatives repelled the attackers.

“On 06/01/2022 at about 0230 hours, at Ideato South Police Station, some unknown gunmen came in their numbers, shooting sporadically, and threw an Improvised Explosive Device (I.E.D.) into the station.

“The hoodlums were immediately repelled by the command’s tactical team and the police operatives of the division and in the ensuing gun duel, the hoodlums were overwhelmed by the superior fire-power of the police.

“However, no life or arms were lost and the detonated (I.E.D.) only caused minimal damage.”

“Meanwhile, the Imo Commissioner of Police CP Rabiu Hussaini, commended the officers and men for their gallantry.

“He called on members of the public, especially those residing in the community, to assist the police by availing them with credible information and to report any person seen treating bullet wounds or hiding within the community.”
