How Gov. Otti’s Independent Power Project in ABSU Will End Darkness in Uturu Amid Political Earthquake in Isuikwuato

Governor Otti has approved a massive power project in ABSU and Uturu. Shocking political defections and powerful declarations followed. Click to read the full twist.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has taken a bold step to end decades of electricity hardship in Uturu and Abia State University (ABSU) by approving the establishment of a 10-megawatt Independent Power Plant (IPP) that will serve both the university and surrounding communities.

Governor Otti made this explosive announcement during a grand reception hosted by the people of Isuikwuato Local Government Area at the Isuikwuato High School, Otankpa. The reception, which turned into a political rally of sorts, witnessed massive defections from the PDP, APGA, and AA into the Labour Party—further reinforcing Otti’s grip on Abia politics.

“As part of our ongoing rehabilitation of Abia State University, I have approved the establishment of an independent power plant project that will generate not less than 10 megawatts of electricity. The aim is to serve both the university and the entire Uturu town,” Otti declared.

The Governor emphasized that with the signing of the Abia State Electricity Bill into law, the state no longer needs federal approval to execute its energy plans. “We’re in control now. Once the House of Assembly finalizes the membership of the Abia State Electricity Regulatory Agency (ASERA), implementation begins immediately,” he stated.

Governor Otti further assured the crowd that critical roads such as the Amibo-Acha Road and the Eziama-Ndundu Road are captured in the state budget and would either be fixed or flagged off in due course.

The event took on added significance as Hon. Lucky Johnson, the member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency, officially defected from the PDP to the Labour Party, declaring the collapse of all other political parties in Isuikwuato into Labour. “With what Governor Otti has done for our people, 2027 is already a walkover. Isuikwuato will deliver him again,” he proclaimed.

Other notable figures such as Hon. Amobi Ogah (Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency), Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa (Speaker of Abia House of Assembly), Barr. Ikechukwu Uwanna (Attorney General), and Mayor Chinedu Ekeke (Isuikwuato Mayor) showered praise on the Governor’s achievements in education, health, infrastructure, and welfare.

The ceremony was also attended by top stakeholders including Dr. Onyinyechi Rufus-Obi of the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA), legal luminary Mr. Ken Ahia (SAN), and traditional leaders such as Chief Chidiebere Uguru and Dr. Chidi Mba, who described Otti’s performance as unmatched in recent memory.

Political titans from the PDP, APGA, and AA—like Onyekwere Akim, Chukwudi Ogele, Emma Ibegbulam, and Henry Agbaeze—publicly dumped their parties and pledged allegiance to Governor Otti’s Labour-led government.

With Isuikwuato and Uturu aligning solidly behind him, Otti’s 2027 re-election ambition may already be halfway won.
