Prof. Yusuf Saidu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research, Innovation, and Development at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, was tragically killed by suspected bandits on Monday while traveling from Sokoto to Kaduna.

In a statement, the university management confirmed the devastating news, saying, “The death has occurred of Prof. Yusuf Saidu, the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research, Innovation, and Development, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.”

 

The university disclosed that Prof. Saidu was attacked and killed by bandits during his journey. They described him as a man of integrity, religion, dedication, and courage, emphasizing the profound impact of his loss on the academic community.

 

The tragic incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, particularly on the Sokoto-Kaduna road, where bandit attacks have become increasingly frequent.
