The Speakership ambition of the honorable member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency, Hon Nkeiru Onyejiocha is under serious threat as her victory on March 23, 2019 Presidential & National Assembly election is been challenged by Hon. Jude Udeachara of the PDP at Abia State National and State Assembly Tribunal seating at Umuahia.

Hon. Jude Udeachara amongst other things is asking that the election be declared inconclusive and a rerun ordered at the polling units where election did not hold on March 23, 2019.

His plea is that since the number of registered voters in the polling units where election did not hold is more than the margin of victory , the election should have been declared inconclusive by INEC as stipulated in the electoral act.

When the matter came up on May 13, 2019 for pre-trial, counsel to Hon Onyejiocha asked for more time to enable him file a reply to Jude’s motion.

The matter was adjourned to May 21, 2019 for pre-trial as the tribunal panel enjoined all counsel party to the case to regularize their papers before that date.
