Harry Kane ‘more than welcome’ back at Tottenham Hotspur, Thomas Frank says after transfer clause revealed in Bayern Munich contract

Harry Kane left Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 to pursue a new challenge at Bayern Munich. The England captain has gone on to record staggering goal returns during his time in Germany. Details of Kane’s contract have been revealed, which show he has release clauses to favour a return to Spurs in the future. Spurs boss Thomas Frank has welcomed the idea of a Kane reunion.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank would warmly welcome Harry Kane back to the club after it was revealed the England captain has a release clause in his Bayern Munich contract.
Kane left north London in favour of Bavaria in 2023 and has gone on to achieve staggering feats at Allianz Arena.
During his time at Bayern, he has already scored 98 goals in 103 matches and won the Bundesliga title, as well as lifting the German Super Cup.
Kane’s most recent outing saw him score a hat-trick in his team’s 4-1 league victory at Hoffenheim.
That was his ninth treble in Germany’s top flight, which leaves him seventh on the league’s all-time list of players to take a match ball home.
Despite Kane’s performances indicating that he is more than comfortable with his life in Munich, Spurs supporters can cling on to the hope of a reunion with their former No. 10 due to the details within his current contract.
Bayern bought Kane for a reported £100 million, but a clause in his agreement would have allowed him to leave the club for £67m in January 2025.
That figure will drop to £54m in the next transfer window, according to multiple reports, and it is believed Spurs would have a ‘first option’ – which means if Bayern were to accept a bid from a club for Kane, or the release clause was met, then Spurs would be given the chance to match it.
“There are a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself, who would like to see Kane back,” Frank said when asked about the possibility.
“Personally, I don’t think he will do it right now, if I’m honest. He’ll probably stay in Bayern and continue performing well.
“He was the top scorer last year. He won the title and he’s doing fantastic now.”
Kane’s start to the new season has been impressive, with 13 goals from just seven matches, but he did miss out on a top-10 finish in the Ballon d’Or rankings, with the England skipper having to settle for 13th spot.
An early-season UEFA Champions League showdown with Chelsea offered Kane a reminder of playing against Premier League opposition, and he duly stepped up to the challenge with two goals in a 3-1 victory.
Frank feels Kane still has more to do at Bayern, but would never turn down the chance to work with the Spurs legend.
“I don’t know what he’s thinking,” Frank added. “Myself, I’m a traveller, I like to explore things as well, so he’s been here for many years, so why not enjoy the time in Bayern a little bit more.
“But he’s welcome. If he wants to join us, he’s more than welcome.”
Kane came through the academy setup at Spurs and gained valuable experience with loan spells at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City before making his mark on the first team.
By the time he left Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2023, Kane had bagged 280 goals in 435 appearances to become the club’s all-time top goalscorer.
