Hundreds of protesters who gathered at Refinery Junction, Kaduna on Saturday, protesting the incessant killings in Southern Kaduna were dispersed by mobile policemen drafted to the area to maintain peace.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Sabon Tasha, CSP Paul Timbushi first appealed to the angry protesters who converged on Refinery Junction in Kaduna.
After the intervention of the Sabon Tasha DPO, the protesters dispersed from Refinery Junction, with most of them trekking towards Sabon Tasha in large numbers.
When they arrived Ungwan Boro Junction, they reconvened, and were heard expressing sadness over the killings in Southern Kaduna.
Leader of the group, Dr. Paul Akut who was saddened by the killings in Southern Kaduna told journalists that, it’s time to tell the Government to stop incessant killings in Southern Kaduna.
According to him, “Enough of the killings. Southern Kaduna people are human beings who must be protected by Government.”
It was observed that the protesters were all dressed in black and were chanting, “End Southern Kaduna Killings” “Southern Kaduna Lives Matter” “Arrest sponsors, murderers of Southern Kaduna people” as well as other messages.
Heavy security presence was observed as no fewer than 17 vehicles branded with Nigeria Police, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were sighted.
