Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, says more governors of the Peoples Democratic Party will follow Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, to the All Progressives Congress.
Bello of the APC said the present PDP governors are already knocking on the doors to the APC.
He said among the present crop of PDP governors, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, would be the last governor to join the ruling party.
The Kogi State governor spoke on Thursday evening while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme.
He described Umahi as a believer in the APC policies and administration even while he was a member of the opposition party.
Bello said, “Umahi is with us, others are coming.
“Other governors are already knocking. They are on their way. We will be unveiling them one after the other.
“Wike might be the last to join the All Progressives Congress. Others are lining up.”
Controversy continues to trail the defection of Umahi from the PDP to the APC as stakeholders of both parties squabble over the defection of the Ebonyi State governor.
Umahi, a longtime member of the PDP, had claimed he defected because of the “injustice” meted to the South-East region by the party, adding that the APC would protect the interest of the region in the 2023 presidential election.
Bello, who described Umahi as, “The Politician Of The Year”, said the governor and the South-East people won’t regret the move by the governor as the APC would protect the interest of the people of the region in the 2023 presidential election.
