H0T: Lawmaker Push To Give EFCC, Others Access To Rivers Financial Record | DETAILS

A lawmaker in the Rivers State House of Assembly, and a 2023 governorship aspirant, Hon. Farah Dagogo, has threatened to appeal a court order restraining the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), from probing the state.

A Federal High Court in a suit marked FHC/PH/CS/78/2007, had barred the EFCC from investigating the finances of Rivers State.

Dolling out his agenda for the state if elected in 2023, Dagogo in a statement released by his media aide, Ibrahim Lawal on Wednesday, April 13, noted that there is need for transparency and accountability, which is why the court order should be lifted.

Dagogo said;

“My goal will be to serve the people and not rule. Like I had earlier said, ruling over the people has a dictatorial feature, but governing and serving give power to the people thereby entrenching the true tenets of democracy. Our government will not be sectional, it will be for Rivers people and those residing and doing businesses in the state. That is why we have to appeal and lift that perpetual injunction that had prevented EFCC, ICPC, NFIU and the likes from looking into the account and finances of Rivers State. There must be real transparency and accountability.”

Meanwhile, the aspirant has submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), headquarters in Abuja.
