Gunmen Attack, Kill Imo Prison Officials | READ DETAILS
Yet to be identified gunmen on Wednesday, attacked Prison officials at Umulolo in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State, killing two.
According to a Security source, the gunmen ambushed the officials, throwing dynamites into their operational vehicle.
“The attackers threw dynamites into two Hilux vans of the officials, two of whom were killed on the spot while others were wounded and have been rushed to hospital. It was also reported that one Hilux van was destroyed by the dynamite while the other was not affected.
“The unaffected van has been returned to base at the command headquarters in Owerri…The officials took off from Owerri in the morning and on reaching Okigwe, the gunmen, attacked them.”
The Spokesman for the Owerri Correctional Centre, Goodluck Uboegbulem, confirmed the incident, noting that investigation is on.
