Guidelines for Obtaining Proof of Concept (PoC), License to last for three months duration: NCC Says
The Nigerian telecommunications regulating agency ,the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has stated that Proof of Concept (PoC) license when issued will be valid for a duration of three months.
In a statement issued to the public and signed by Dr Ikechukwu Adindu,the NCC stated that in recent times ,it has been inundated with request from the industry for trial frequencies in certain spectrum bands for the purpose of verification of certain concepts and theories.
In the statement, NCC opined that consistent with international best practices and in line with commission’s strategic vision plan of facilitating the provision of infrastructure for a digital economy which fosters national development with the object of optimizing usage of spectrum ,it which to issue guides for obtain the licenses.
The guidelines according to the statement includes;
-That grant of Proof of Concept(PoC) trial license shall only be granted to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)/Vendors or Operators in conjunction with their Original Equipment Manufacturers(OEMs)
– The Proof of Concept (PoC) shall not exceed a period of three(3) months effective from the date of approval and on a non- commercial basis.
-Equipment for Proof of Concept (PoC) must be” typed approved “by the Commission.
-Appropriate Spectrum fees must be paid in accordance with the Commission’s regulations,the statement reads.
