Gregory University Uturu has marked a milestone by inducting 26 new medical doctors during a grand ceremony, highlighting the university’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and gender balance in the medical profession.
Gregory University Uturu celebrated a major milestone by inducting 26 new medical doctors in a ceremony marked by profound speeches, recognitions, and a commitment to advancing medical education in Nigeria. The event, held at the university’s premises, was attended by esteemed dignitaries, faculty, parents, and friends.
Founded in 2012 by Professor Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe, Gregory University Uturu has always aimed to empower young people to deliver innovative solutions to societal challenges. The medical program, a crucial part of this vision, has now produced its second batch of medical graduates, showcasing the university’s dedication to knowledge transfer and medical excellence.
During the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of Gregory University, Prof. C.U. Njoku, commended the graduating doctors for their dedication to the noble profession. He urged them to leverage technology, pursue research, and address critical global health challenges like AIDS and COVID-19. He also emphasized the importance of ethics, urging the graduates to remain focused and uphold the standards of medical practice.
Dr. Fatima Kyari the Registrar and CEO of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) who was represented, lauded the university for its commitment to producing well-trained medical professionals. She highlighted the increasing number of female doctors in the profession, reflecting a positive trend towards gender balance in leadership roles within the Nigerian medical sector.
The ceremony also recognized exceptional academic performances. Dr. Ogaranya Peace Shalom was honored as the overall best graduating scholar, excelling in multiple disciplines including anatomy, biochemistry, and medical microbiology.
