Gov. Ikpeazu rewards five corps members for outstanding service

– Two corps members offered automatic employment

 

Five 2019 batch B and C corps members who meritoriously served the state have received the state honours award and cash prizes for their outstanding performance and execution of some life touching personal community development projects in the state.

The corps members are: Nyah Patrick S, Ogunlere Oluwetobi Mathew, Adeola Oluwagbemileke Samuel , Sebe Godspower Oghenemaroh and Babatunde Dolapo .

Presenting the awards to the corps members, the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, who congratulated the awardees for achieving the feat despite the challenges of covid -19 pandemic, added that the corps members exhibited true resilience of a Nigerian youth .

The Governor represented by the secretary to the state government Barr. Chris Ezem, restated that the present administration inline with its resolve to reward and honour every outstanding corps member, has offered automatic employment to two ex corps members who performed excellently well during their service year.

He charged the awardees not to relent in rendering the needed selfless services to humanity wherever they find themselves stressing that the reward for hard work is more work.

In his address, the Commissioner for youth and Sports development and Chairman, NYSC state Governing board, Chief Emeka Ikwuagwu appreciated the Governor for his support which made the ceremony a reality and the state honours award selection committee for doing a good job.

In her welcome address, the state coordinator, NYSC Abia state, lady Bona Fasakin, expressed joy that the awardees were able to contribute their quota to the development of the state describing the gesture as the beginning of good things to come and commended Governor for revitalizing the NYSC state award, as well as the NYSC governing board for their support throughout the 2019 service year.

In his vote of thanks on behalf of the other corps members, Mr Oluwatobi Mathew thanked the State Government for the honour adding that they will continue to be good ambassadors of the state wherever they find themselves.

Permanent secretaries, office of the SSG and members of the state NYSC state governing board were present during the ceremony.
