Former PPA House of Representative Candidate for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency and US certificated Criminology Expert, Chief Emmanuel Idima felicitates with Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for the unanimous decision by judges of the Supreme Court of Nigeria which set aside the decision of Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos that sentenced Senator Kalu to 12 years imprisonment in his judgement delivered on April 24, 2019.

The criminologist who is based in the United States of America revealed that God has given Senator Orji Uzor Kalu another opportunity to fight for the course of ndi igbo through the experience he has gathered during his short time in incarceration.

“OUK has to know that it was God’s plan for him to experience this challenge, this experience was to toughen him, prepare him for the journey ahead and empower him with all it takes to fight for the interest of ndi igbo and Nigeria as a whole”

“The supreme court has proven again to be the last hope of the common man and i am deeply grateful to them. Almost everyone last hope, before they sprang a surprise and brought smile on the faces of Abians, Igbos and Nigerians” he concluded.

The apex court, in a unanimous verdict today on the appeal delivered by Justice Ejembi Eko, declared that the conviction of the Orji Uzor Kalu was null and void.

Justice Ejembi Eko, who delivered the lead judgment also declared as unconstitutional the provision of section 396(7) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, on which the then President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa (retd), relied on to authorise Justice Idris to return to the Court of Appeal to conclude the trial.

Justice Eko explained that the declaration was on the ground that Justice Mohammed Idris was already a Justice of the Court of Appeal, as at the time he delivered the judgment sentencing the appellants.

He held that a Justice of the Court of Appeal cannot operate as a judge of the Federal High Court.
