Major General Ijioma N. Ijioma Rtd who recently emerged ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER Personality of the year 2021 during the annual media summit and award event that held in Umuahia, Abia State has added another feather to his cap as he was conferred with the award of ‘Light Of The World’ by the St. Stephen Anglican Church, Umuahia on Sunday 12th December, 2021.
The retired military officer who is a devoted Christian and the author of “MY HOLY BIBLE EXTRACTS OF 1,401 POWERFUL VERSES” first and second edition which are currently selling via www.amazon.com and www.barnnesandnoble.com , was considered for award as a result of his devotion and contribution to the development of the body of Christ.
After receiving the award, Gen. Ijioma admonished the parishioners of St. Andrew not to be Christian just by word of mouth but by their actions. He called on them to continuously pray for their Bishop whom he likened to an army general who commands a unit, and if anything happens to the general it will put the entire troop into jeopardy. The general gave a brief history of himself to buttress his point. He stated that he participated as a young officer (lieutenant) in the liberation of Liberia 1990 under the auspices of the Economic Community of West African Group (ECOMOG), and in 1992 as a captain, he also fought in the same theatre where he earned the “Purple Heart” medal for battlefield injury. He saw action in Darfur, Sudan, as both sector commander and contingent commander and in the North East of Nigeria as director of operations for the Nigerian army which decimated the insurgents (Boko Haram) and made the 2015 General Election in Nigeria possible.
The general said doing his carrier, he devoted himself daily to the study of the bible, he adduced that, this was the secret to him being alive despite all the wars he fought while in service. Gen. Ijioma said the best way to be the light of the world, is by lightening ones home, he said, he will show forth the light by lightening up St Andrew’s Anglican church. He announced a cash donation of one million naira (#1,000,000). After the cash donation the retired officer promised to return to the church with his family to worship when they are back for Christmas.
