BREAKING: Ganduje, lawmakers, others in closed-door meeting over impeachment saga
National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party are currently interfacing with members of the Ondo State House of Assembly over the impeachment move against the state’s deputy governor, Lucky Ayiedatiwa.
Also in the meeting are members of the Aminu Bello Masari-led 9-man reconciliation committee, the state party chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin.
The Ganduje-led NWC recently inaugurated the reconciliation committee as part of efforts to resolve the crisis.
The party leadership had earlier expressed its reservations against plans by the lawmakers to impeach Ayiedatiwa.
The deputy governor was accused of disrespecting the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, while the state chief executive was on a medical vacation abroad.
The lawmakers also accused him of abusing his office, an allegation he has since denied.
The party leaders are expected to brief the APC press corps after the closed-door meeting.
