The immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Olabiyi Durojaiye, is dead.
He died in the early hours of Tuesday, August 24, while receiving medical care for an undisclosed illness in Lagos State at the age of 88.
Durojaiye had a BSc (Economics) London, and an LLB, London. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1979, and was a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He was a Director in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for 28 years as well as the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc.
The former boss of the telecom regulatory body served for 35 years in the public sector. He also worked with the International Monetary Fund, the Federal Reserve System in the U.S.A and the City University London between 1964 and 1982.
Durojaiye was elected Ogun East Senator in Ogun state, in 1999 under the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD). He will be remembered for his struggle during the days of National Democratic Coalition (NADECO).
