First Fruit: Why I Never Sowed My First Salary To Any Pastor Or Church – Reno Omokri

A former media aide to ex President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has said that he never sowed his first salary to any pastor or church as a first fruit offering.

Omokri who is also a lawyer and human right activist, in a post on his official Facebook page, revealed that he gave his first salary to his father, adding that it is not scriptural to offer ones first salary to the church or pastor.

“I never sowed my first salary to any pastor or church as first fruit offering. There is NOTHING like that in Scripture. I gave my first salary to my father. He shared it to EVERY single member of my family as he saw fit, then prayed for me. I have NEVER been poor since then. Read Scripture. The only command among the 10 Commandments that affects your prosperity on Earth is “Honor your father and your mother”-Exodus 20:12. No prayer from any pastor, no charm from any voodoo priest, and no amount of hard work, can do what the prayer of a parent that you honour can do in your life!”

Meanwhile most Nigerians have reacted to Omokri’s ideology:

Macwillie Chisom wrote;

I disagree with u on this , my brother Remo I think u re using the place of education to discuss spiritual matters, I thought u said u know very well, but this one u lost it.

Akporido Joseph wrote;

Thank you sir. No matter how bad we were treated by our parents, we should always remember, take care and provide for them to feel our impact while they are still alive. It is not necessary to organize socalled befitting burials for their remains where we provide so much food and drinks for people who don’t know how our parents had existed

It’s recommendable to honor and respect one’s parents but the honor to parents is not what makes a man prosperous.

Honor to ur parents cannot change ur destiny, it cannot making a dull brain to be smart.

It’s only God that blesses 1 not parents. Afterall there are some evil parents out there who are cruel to their own biological children.

There are many people who never received parental blessings but are prosperous today.

Giving the 1st salary as seed sowing to the churches is a scam the gullible members of mostly private churches fall for most of the time

Ayuba Idakwo wrote;

Sowing and reaping is constant in the schemes of God. Honouring God and your parents is both physical and spiritual obligations
