FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: José Peseiro Speaks On Agreement With NFF| READ DETAILS
José Peseiro has affirmed the failure of all attempts to reach an agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), over his appointment as the head coach of the national team.
The NFF, in December had announced the appointment of the Portuguese as the new gaffer set to manage the squad after the 2021 AFCON tournament.
The former Venezuela caoch was designated to lead the team to the FIFA Qatar 2022 World Cup due for November.
NFF, however made a U-turn due, announcing Austin Eguavoen’s continual as interim coach ahead of March’s World Cup playoffs against Ghana.
The 61- year-old has now cited financial constraints and clauses in the proposed contract as reasons for the aborted deal.
He said;
“After several weeks of negotiations, during which a number of decisions emerged with the Nigerian football federation announcing that I would be the coach of their national team by the end of 2021 AFCON, an announcement that I never confirmed, this did not happen because of disagreement over some clauses (in the contract) and financial issues.”
