In a recent social media post, Issac Fayose highlighted the challenges faced by the Igbo community in Nigeria, from being denied the right to vote and participate in protests, to the ongoing struggle for Biafra.
Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, recently spoke out about the challenges faced by the Igbo community in Nigeria. In a video posted on social media, Fayose highlighted several key issues that underscore the difficulties they face in the country.
Fayose noted that Igbos often face restrictions and marginalization during elections, stating that they are not allowed to vote freely. He also mentioned the threat they experience during protests, where they are sometimes intimidated into participating or discouraged because events like the Oro Festival may take place. Additionally, Fayose pointed out that even when they win elections, there are instances where their victories are overturned or not recognized.
He further expressed frustration over the Nigerian state’s stance towards the Igbo community’s demands for an independent country, Biafra. Despite their calls for self-determination, Fayose lamented that these demands are consistently denied.
Fayose questioned the authenticity of the concept of “one Nigeria,” emphasizing that the Igbo community continues to be marginalized and treated as second-class citizens. His comments reflect a broader sentiment of disenfranchisement and exclusion felt by many Ibos in Nigeria.
In his message, Fayose called for greater understanding and acknowledgment of the challenges faced by the Igbo people, urging for fair treatment and equity in the nation’s sociopolitical landscape. WATCH VIDEO BELOW:
