After a long streak of silence following his failure to secure a single vote at the coveted Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential primaries, former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has finally spoken up.
The politician who was on the party’s 14-man candidate list of Presidential aspirants ahead of the 2023 elections failed to secure a single vote at the primary election on Saturday, 28th May.
Saturday’s deciding moment ended with former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar emerging the Presidential candidate of the PDP for the 2023 general election with a total of 371 votes against his closest contender, Wike, who garnered 237 votes.
Taking to his space on the microblogging platform, Twitter, Fayose congratulated the winner, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and commended Governor Nyesom Wike, who came second.
He tweeted;
“To this end, I congratulate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar our flag-bearer and wish him and our party success in the general election
I congratulate former VP Atiku Abubakar over his emergence as the PDP presidential candidate. I also commend Governor Nyesom Wike for remaining consistent in action and character.”
From the details of the results from the exercise: Atiku Abubakar – 371; Nyesom Wike- 237; Bukola Saraki – 70; Udom Emmanuel – 38; Balla Mohammed – 20;
Pius Anyim – 14; Sam Ohabunwa – 1; and Olivia Tariela scored 1. There were 12 void votes.
