Ex-Atiku Youth DG, Rowland Returns To PDP Days After Dumping Party For ADC

Barely 26 days after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), youth advocate Comrade, Odih Rowland has returned to the PDP, tendering a public apology to its leadership.

Rowland, who served as Director-General of the Atiku Youth Wing Campaign Organisation, had on August 1, 2025, announced his defection to the ADC, describing it then as a move for “political realignment.”

In a letter dated August 27, 2025, titled “My Sincere Apologies” and addressed to the PDP leadership, Rowland admitted that his exit was a mistake.

He said, “I am writing to express my sincerest apologies for my recent decision to decamp from PDP to ADC on August 1, 2025. I realise now that I made a grave mistake by leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party that has nurtured my political career for 24 years.”

Rowland praised the PDP for upholding “values of truth, justice, and internal democracy,” stressing that the party’s resilience in resolving crises reaffirmed his conviction that it remained Nigeria’s most credible political platform.

The youth leader singled out the National Chairman’s leadership style as a significant reason for his return, expressing confidence in the PDP’s chances in the 2027 general elections.

“I am particularly impressed by the leadership of our National Chairman, which demonstrates PDP’s capacity to win the 2027 elections. I firmly believe my impact will be more significant in PDP than in any other party,” he stated.

Rowland revealed that his decision followed consultations with party leaders across all levels.

“Following the urging of my ward, local government, state, and national leaders, I have decided to return to PDP with my supporters. I pledge to work tirelessly for the party’s victory in 2027,” he affirmed.

Meanwhile, the PDP officially received Rowland back into its fold at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday. Party officials described his return as proof of the PDP’s enduring appeal and unity ahead of the 2027 polls.
