Ekiti Poll: Update On The Electoral Process So Far
The ongoing guber elections in Ekiti State has been described as one with a peaceful atmosphere and a hitch free process as security operatives; which includes the Police, Civil Defence Corps e.t.c are all up in their game to make sure that all goes well without any form of ruckus.
Also it’s been observed that despite the report that out of the large number of persons that registered for their permanent Voters card and only 70% picked up, there has been a massive turn up of voters as people were seen coming out in their numbers to exercise their franchise while comporting themselves and following due process while casting their ballots.
On the electoral process and how the new electronic voting system fared, it was recorded that before a voter was allowed to cast their vote, an electronic device was used to capture their faces to verify If the information provided by the individuals tallied with what INEC had in their system and if it was confirmed to tally, they where then allowed to vote. This was done to make sure no one was impersonating another and that vote inflation reduced drastically.
Thereafter, after the voting process, polling officers were to take electronic pictures of the result and transmit directly to INEC portal.
Overall, the electronic process was said to be going well.
Amongst the many voters that came out to vote, The Incumbent Ekiti State Governor was seen casting his ballot. He mentioned his observation on the change in the electoral system as against what it used to be in the past. He commended the INEC for the seamless process and appraised the security operatives for doing their job well.
Also guber candidates of the PDP, Bisi Kolawale; APC, Biodun Oyebanji; and SDP, Segun Oni were seen casting their votes too.
