2023: EFCC Exposes Politicians Planning To Buy Votes “In Kind” | READ DETAILS
As Nigerians continue to bear the crunch of naira scarcity even as they count days to the 2023 general election, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has disclosed that it has intelligence that some politicians have already concluded plans to buy votes not with cash but “in kind”.
According to the Chairman of the anti-graft agency, Abdulrasheed Bawa on Wednesday, the said persons have already bought items which they plan on giving to the electorates to curry their votes.
“We have intel that a lot of people have bought some items that they want [to use] to buy votes in kind not in cash. Some of these things are out there”.
“Politicians are also Nigerians. We too have a way of doing our own things. We have our own experiences in this as well” Bawa said while appearing on Channels TV.
He charged Nigerians to work with the EFCC to ensure that people with integrity are voted into power.
“We can all come together to ensure that the people we are voting into various elective positions are people with proven integrity and of higher ethical standard. The only way you can determine that those have genuinely sold themselves in what they will do is when they get into office” he said.
