Eddie Howe returns to Newcastle United dugout after pneumonia battle

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has returned to duties after being hospitalised with pneumonia. Howe missed three games, including big wins over Manchester United and Crystal Palace, as the club look to return to the UEFA Champions League next season. They are currently fifth in the Premier League table, occupying the final qualification spot for next season’s Champions League.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has returned to work after recovering from a bout of pneumonia.

The Magpies announced earlier this month that Howe was admitted to hospital after “feeling unwell for a number of days”, forcing the 47-year-old to miss three matches against Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.
The club confirmed that Howe has now recovered and thanked fans for their “warm wishes”.
“Newcastle United are delighted to confirm that Eddie Howe has returned to his duties at the club’s Training Centre,” the club said in a statement on X.
“Eddie had recently been hospitalised with pneumonia and has now returned to work after a period of recovery.
“We thank supporters for their warm wishes.”
Assistant managers Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones took charge of the team in Howe’s absence, overseeing a 4-1 win over Man Utd, a 5-0 thrashing of Palace and last Saturday’s 4-1 defeat to Villa.
Newcastle face Ipswich on Saturday as they hope to continue their charge towards UEFA Champions League qualification for next season.
The Magpies are currently in the fifth and final Champions League qualification spot with five games remaining in the Premier League season, two points ahead of Chelsea and Villa.
