COVID 19 Lockdown: Widow who wept on the Street of Uyo, receives help.
A United States of America based cleric, Apostle Aniefiok Jacob has sent food items and cash as relief intervention to the Mrs Esther Ita Okon whose video of lamentation about the biting effect of the lockdown in Akwa Ibom State vent viral.
Speaking to news men in Uyo, Rotarian Akan Emah who was the emissary of hope who reached the widow on behalf of Apostle Jacob disclosed that, the donor saw the video online and moved by the sorry plight of the widow, directed him to immediately identify the widow and link him up to assist her.
Making the presentation of immediate relief materials including foodstuff and cash on behalf of the philanthropist, Rotarian Emah urged the widow not to contemplate suicide but wholly put her trust in God who is more than able to preserve her and her family.
Emah reminded the widow that she had a moral duty and social responsibility to live in order to take care of her four kids, charging her to imagine what life for them without her would be, if it was this rough with her around.
He further disclosed that, Apostle Jacob has offered full scholarship to one child of the widow and charged her to ensure, monies sent for the child’s education is not diverted for other purposes.
Rotarian Emah who argued that the State Government cannot do everything enjoined privileged citizens and organizations to do their bit to reach out to the distressed and needy in the society.
Responding, Mrs Esther Okon who said her husband died in 2015 leaving behind four children, thanked Apostle Jacob for intervening in her situation all the way from the USA and prayed God Almighty to bless him. She also thanked Rotor Emah for allowing God to use him as a median to bless their lives.
Earlier, Apostle Jacob who interacted with the widow via video call, encouraged her to be strong, explaining that, he was raised up by his widowed mother and having seen her struggles through life, made a life commitment to assisting distressed widows.
It would be recalled that, following the total lockdown of Akwa Ibom State by the Government as a response to curb the outbreak of COVID 19 in the State, Mrs Okon was recorded in a video that went viral weeping and calling for help from the State Government to save her family from starvation along Nwaniba Road
