The Abia State Team on COVID19 Task Force for Abia North, yesterday evening (9th March, 2020), visited Arochukwu LGA to monitor compliance on the lockdown directives.
The team which was led by the State Commissioner for Homeland Security, Prince Dan Okoli, include Commissioner for Special Projects, Mazi John J Okoro, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Homeland Security and other security agents.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner for Homeland Security, commended the people of Aro for being law abiding and observing all government directives.
Prince Okoli specifically commended the synergy, existing between the TC Chairman Arochukwu LGA, Mazi Jideofor Kanu and the member representing Arochukwu State Constituency, Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha, and urged them to ensure that it continue.
Also speaking, the Transition Committee Chairman Arochukwu LGA, Mazi Jideofo Kanu, thanked the team for responding quickly to issues of the LGA.
The TC Chairman thanked the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu on his efforts in handling the COVID 19 pandemic, and urged him never to relent.
In his remark, the Minority Whip/member representing Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha thanked the team for the importance attached to Arochukwu in promoting the preventive measures of COVID 19.
The lawmaker expressed his readiness to assist in anyway possible in ensuring that government directives are carried out.
He thanked the governor for relaxing the lockdown from Friday, April 10 to Sunday, April 12, to enable Abians worship God, adding that prayer is an important element the fight against the pandemic.
During the visit, the team visited the borders between Arochukwu, Cross River and Akwa Ibom respectively.
It will be recalled that this is the second visit within few days, to show the importance of Arochukwu as bordering LGA to Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.
