Court Issues Order To EFCC As Okorocha Pleads Not Guilty | READ DETAILS

Senator Rochas Okorocha have been remanded under the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), by Justice Inyang Ekwo led Federal High Court Abuja.

Operatives of the anti-graft agency arraigned Okorocha who is one of the presidential aspirants under the APC, over an alleged N2.9b fraud.

Okorocha is facing a 17-count charge bordering on alleged diversion of state funds.

The ex Imo state governor alongside Anyim Inyerere, allegedly diverted funds from government House Accounts and that of Imo State Local Government Joint accounts to private companies during his tenure as governor between 2014and 2016.

Recall that Rochas was arrested on Tuesday in his Abuja residence after he allegedly jumped bail and refused to honour series of invitations from the EFCC.

Taking his plea on Monday, May 30, Okorocha pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.

Counsel to the EFCC, Gbolahan Latona, moved for an adjournment to give the Commission time to get witnesses ready.

According to the counsel, 15 witnesses are already on ground for the trial.

Justice Ekwo adjourned the matter to May 31, for bail hearing, ordering for Okorocha to remain under EFCC’ custody.
