BREAKING: Court Fixes Date For Trial As INEC Files Charges Against Suspended Adamawa REC | READ DETAILS

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has taken a legal action against the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), in Adamawa State, Hudu Yunusa-Ari.

The Electoral Body in a statement issued on Thursday, signed by Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, said the Commission has filed six count charges against Ari following it’s review of the case file from the police which established a prima facie case against him.

INEC said it filed the case before the Adamawa State High Court sitting in Yola, the state capital. The court has fixed Wednesday, July 12, 2023, for commencement of trial.

Recall that Ari was arrested for allegedly usurping the powers of the Returning Officer and declaring a winner while collation of results were still ongoing during the supplementary election in Adamawa on April 15.
