The Abia State Government has thrown its weight behind the maiden edition of the Isuikwuato Nwanneukwu Cultural Festival 2025, describing it as a timely initiative aimed at preserving indigenous culture, promoting unity, and strengthening community identity across the state.
The endorsement followed a courtesy visit on December 22, 2025, by the festival’s promoters, led by the President General Isuikwuato Development Union Chief Chidiebere Uguru and Chief Dr. Chukwuemeka Oluoha, to the Honourable Commissioner for Arts and Culture, Hon. Matthew Ekwuribe, shortly after the State Executive Council (Exco) meeting.
During the visit, the organisers presented the Commissioner with the official Cultural Festival Wrapper, a symbolic attire representing the heritage, values, and communal bond of the Isuikwuato people. In response, Hon. Ekwuribe formally endorsed the festival and commended the organisers for initiating a culturally driven event capable of redefining community engagement and cultural consciousness in Abia State.
The Isuikwuato Nwanneukwu Cultural Festival 2025 officially commenced yesterday, December 23, and is scheduled to continue today, December 24, with heightened expectations surrounding the grand finale.
In a major boost to the event, Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, is expected to grace today’s activities, underscoring the administration’s commitment to cultural revival, grassroots development, and people-oriented governance.
Hon. Ekwuribe assured the organisers of his readiness to actively publicise the festival, noting that it serves as a model for other towns and communities in Abia State that have yet to institutionalise cultural celebrations.
According to the Commissioner, cultural festivals remain a powerful tool for promoting tourism, preserving ancestral values, fostering unity, and creating economic opportunities for local artisans, performers, and youths.
He further confirmed his intention to be physically present at the festival, reiterating the Ministry’s support for initiatives that align with the state’s broader vision of cultural renaissance and inclusive development.
The maiden edition of the Isuikwuato Nwanneukwu Cultural Festival is already drawing attention as a landmark event poised to strengthen communal ties, revive traditional expressions, and reposition Isuikwuato as a cultural hub within Abia State.
