After about three months of being in darkness due to their power transformer which broke down irreparably, the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly and the PDP flagbearer for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji MNSE has made good his promise to the people of Umuizu Okwulaga Afaraukwu Community that power would be restored to the area on or before Christmas Day.

True to his word, the Speaker replaced the old broken transformer with a new one on the 21st of December, 2022, and fully sponsored the nstallation and energisation of same; three days later, on Christmas Day, light was fed from the newly installed transformer to the end users in the community.

As a result, the community was thrown into wild jubilation with the Traditional Ruler of Okwulaga Autonomous Community, Eze Eddy Ibeabuchi thanking the Speaker effusively for his kind gesture to people of his domain. He prayed for him and announced that the people have resolved to support the Speaker and help him achieve his next political ambition to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives. He declared that beyond supporting him at the polls, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji deserves a befitting reward for his generousity.

In the same vein, Chairman of Umuizu Okwulaga Afaraukwu, Mr Amarachi Alozie, the Secretary, Mr Chikwendu Ezebuiro, the Women Leader, Mrs Godwin-Glory Orji, in their separate remarks thanked Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji “for delivering us from the powers of darkness” as they had suffered untold hardship in the period their transformer broke down. They reiterated the people’s resolve to adopt the Abia Soeaker as the sole candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the 2023 general elections.

Also speaking, some business owners in Umuizu were full of gratitude to Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji. They lamented that their businesses suffered a great deal in the period the community was thrown into darkness as they struggled terribly to make ends meet due to the cost of fuelling their generators. They echoed the commitment of members of the community by announcing that business owners in Umuizu Okwulaga have since adopted the Abia Speaker as their candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general elections.

Recall that he transformer donated, installed and energised by Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji at no cost whatsoever to the community is one in a series of such gestures to communities across Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency and beyond.
