A major call for youth-driven transformation echoed across Abia State as Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso charged young Nigerians to embrace enterprise, innovation, and responsible leadership as the foundation for sustainable national development.

Speaking as Chairman at the 5th Anniversary and Extraordinary Convention of the Progressive Abia Youths, themed “Reimagining Governance: Youth Leadership, Technology and Sustainable National Development — Appraising Our Journey, Organizing the Future,” Anyaso delivered a thought-provoking address that challenged the status quo and redefined the role of youths in governance.

In a firm and forward-looking message, he declared that the era of passive participation among young people must come to an end, urging them to move beyond complaints and take active responsibility in shaping the future of the nation.

According to him, entrepreneurship remains the most effective pathway to building leadership capacity, as it instills discipline, accountability, resilience, and problem-solving skills—qualities essential for effective governance and societal impact.

“Youths must stop waiting for opportunities and begin to create them. Enterprise is not just about business; it is about building leaders who can transform society,” he emphasized.

Turning his attention to developments in Abia State, Anyaso commended the administration of Governor Alex Otti, noting that the state is witnessing a clear transition from political promises to tangible performance.

He highlighted improvements in infrastructure, renewed public confidence, and a governance style anchored on purpose and accountability, describing the current administration as a model of reform-driven leadership.

Anyaso stressed that such progress must not only be appreciated but also protected through continuity, calling on stakeholders—particularly youths—to support policies and reforms aimed at repositioning Abia State for long-term growth.

He further urged young people to adopt a progressive mindset centered on innovation, technology, skills acquisition, and value creation, warning against overdependence on government employment.

In his concluding remarks, he encouraged participants to think boldly, build capacity, lead with integrity, and position themselves as architects of Nigeria’s future.

The convention brought together a wide range of youth leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders, all united by a shared vision of strengthening youth inclusion and advancing sustainable development.

Observers say the address not only energized participants but also reinforced the growing influence of youth voices in shaping political and economic discourse in Abia State and beyond.
