During the 2024 annual August Meeting and Award Ceremony of the Amaokwe Development Union’s women’s wing, Chief Chinasa praised Amaokwe women for their crucial contributions to Bende’s development and assured them of the Otti-led government’s support for future initiatives.
In a show of support for grassroots development, Chief Iheanyi Frank Chinasa, a key figure in the Labour Party and a leader in Bende, has commended the women of Amaokwe for their pivotal role in the socioeconomic growth of Bende and Abia State. Chief Chinasa made these remarks during the 2024 annual August Meeting and Award Ceremony hosted by the women’s wing of the Amaokwe Development Union in Item over the weekend.
Chief Chinasa highlighted the indispensable contributions of Amaokwe women, recognizing their relentless efforts in shaping the community’s development. “Your tireless mercurial efforts in moulding and building the socioeconomic fabric of Bende, in particular, and Abia at large, are commendable,” Chief Chinasa stated, emphasizing the strategic importance of women in driving local and state-wide progress.
He further reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with the women of Amaokwe in their quest for rapid development, pledging the full support of the Labour Party-led government of Abia State under Governor Alex Otti. Chief Chinasa assured the women that the state government would collaborate closely with them to ensure that the transformative policies of the Otti administration are implemented effectively at the grassroots level. “Working with the Governor, be rest assured that we shall do everything to trickle down and domesticate the transforming New Abia policies of Chioma Ndi Abia to the grassroots,” he added.
The event was graced by several prominent personalities, including Hon. Nnamdi Ibekwe, the member representing Bende North Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly; Ogechi Becky Oguama, Permanent Secretary of the Women Affairs Ministry; and Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, former Commissioner for Health. During the ceremony, the women also conferred awards on several deserving individuals who have made significant contributions to the Amaokwe community.
Chief Chinasa’s remarks and the subsequent pledges of support from the Otti government signal a renewed focus on empowering women at the grassroots level in Bende and across Abia State. As the state continues to push for development, the role of women, particularly in rural areas, remains central to achieving sustainable progress.
