The State Campaign Coordinator of the Labour Party governorship candidate in Abia, Honorable Iheanacho Obioma has urged security agencies and Abians to call Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to order before they set the state on fire.

In a press release made available to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER and signed by Honorable Iheanacho himself, he posited that the PDP led administration in Abia State has continued in the destruction of their campaign billboards and intimidation of its members.

In the press release he revealed that a chieftain of the Labour Party in Abia State, Dr. Benson Nwaigburu was recently arrested and detained illegally because they prevented the PDP from destroying their campaign billboard.

OTTI HONOURED, AS LABOUR PARTY UNIFIED AGENDA IS UNVEILED IN ABA

PDP AND IKPEAZU’S DESPERATION CAPABLE OF OVERHEATING THE POLITY

Text Of A Press Release Issued By The State Campaign Coordinator Of Alex Otti Campaign Council, Hon. Iheanacho Obioma On The Illegal Arrest And Detention Of A Labour Party Chieftain, Dr. Benson Nwaigburu And Destruction of our Bill Boards By Agents Of Abia State Government.

In the last few months, the Abia state Labour Party and the Alex Otti Campaign Council respectively have held Press Conferences and Issued Press releases calling on Abia state government and the PDP to stop their numerous acts of violence against the Labour party and her candidates, especially destruction of our Campaign Billboards.

The Alex Otti Campaign Council went a step further to petition the Police and Department of State Security Services when we realized that the PDP and Abia State government were not ready to give peace a chance.

While the DSS intervened and cautioned the General Manager of Abia State Signage and Advertising Agency, Mr. Anthony Otuonye who was being used to perpetrate these acts of violence, the Police in the state also got involved.

Sadly, after repeatedly destroying our Gigantic Billboard located around Umuikaa junction at the Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, the government and her agents yesterday arrested one of our Party Chieftains from Isialangwa South, Elder Dr. Nwaigburu after he and other party faithfuls prevented them from carrying out another act of destruction of our billboard a few days ago.

Interestingly, Abia state government has not been able to establish any single lawful reason for the destruction of our campaign billboards, except that our presence in the election contest in Abia has thrown the failed government into a panic mode, hence the resort to violence.

We therefore issue this release so that the press and the general public could have the opportunity of being properly informed on the latest development so as to enable all law-abiding citizens lend their voices against these acts that are capable of causing avoidable unrest in the state.

We wish to state and demand as follows:

  1. That the Okezie Ikpeazu led government should without delay release a Chieftain of our party they illegally arrested.
  2. That the Ikpeazu led government would have no justifiable reasons to resort to violence if its false claims of excellent performance were true.
  3. That the energies and resources being wasted against Labour Party and her candidates should be deployed in taking care of Abia workers and pensioners most of whom are owed up to 45 months pension and salary arrears.
  4. That having known the pattern and antecedents of the PDP led Abia state government, it’s very easy to decipher that their attacks are targeted only on the Labour party and her candidates because they are considered the most popular party with mass appeal and followership in Abia state, coupled with the long standing presence of the party’s governorship candidate Alex Otti as the mouth piece of the downtrodden Abians and the choice of the masses.
  5. A government that has presided over the death of many pensioners and destruction of key Abia institutions, which included the de-accreditation of Abia state Polytechnic Aba and Abia State University Teaching Hospital Aba for the first time in history, should actually hide its face in shame, rather than pushing for the imposition of an unpopular candidate with the intention of covering the signatures of failure and infamy it’s leaving behind.
  6. We call on the federal government of Nigeria, the Police, the DSS and indeed all law enforcement agencies saddled with the responsibilities of ensuring peace and order to call Ikpeazu and the Abia state government to order before they set the state on avoidable fire.
  7. Finally, the Labour Party and her candidates will not hesitate to prevail on the APC led Federal government to declare a state of emergency in Abia if this trend continues as the safety of lives and property of our people are of paramount importance to us.

Thank you and God bless you.

Hon. Iheanacho Obioma

State Campaign Coordinator
