Two members of the House of Representatives on Wednesday dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The lawmakers are Ephraim Nwuzi, representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency in Rivers State and David Abel from Gashaka/Kurmi/Sardauna Federal Constituency in Taraba State.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila disclosed this while reading letters of their defection on the floor of the house during plenary.

Reacting to their defection, the Deputy Minority Leader, Toby Okechukwu; Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu; and leader of the PDP caucus, Kingsley Chinda, urged Gbajabiamila to declare their seats vacant.

Gbajabiamila, however, faulted the point of order raised by the opposition leaders.

He described them as hypocrites, adding that PDP failed to lay the foundation of sanctioning illegal defections while in power.

He said, “Like you used to tell me, your points are noted. Any more defections?”
