BREAKING: Plateau Assembly Takes Decision On Ex Speaker For Defecting | DETAILS
The recent fight against defection seem to be spreading as the Plateau State House of Assembly on Tuesday, declared the former speaker’s seat vacant.
Hon. Abok Ayuba, the immediate past Speaker of the Assembly had defected from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) last weekend.
The Assembly took the decision to declare his seat vacant during plenary on Tuesday, held at the temporary chamber of the House (old Government House) Jos.
According to the Speaker, Plateau House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Yakubu Sanda, the declaration followed a letter from the Plateau State chapter of the APC, requesting for the Speaker to declare Abok’s seat vacant following his defection which is contrary to Section 109 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution.
Ayuba was in November 2021, purportedly impeached by 8 out of 24 Assembly members. He had described the alleged impeachment as fake news.
