BREAKING: Court Shifts Date For Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial, Issue New Orders To DSS | DETAILS

Justice Nyako Binta of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted some of the pleas of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The lawyers of Nnamdi Kanu were in court today, December 2, for an abridgment of time which seeks the court to move the case forward.

Recall that justice Binta had fixed January 19 and 20, 2022, for the resumption of Kanu’s case. The legal counsels filed a motion seeking for the case to be brought forward to between November and December, 2021. However, Binta explained that her schedule was tight and as such cannot grant the plea.

The justice then shifted Kanu’s hearing by one day. According to her, the court will hear the lawyers application on January, 18, 19 and 20, 2022.

Kanu’s counsel which includes lead counsels; Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Aloy Ejimakor, also told the court that their client’s fundamental Human rights were being infringed on in the DSS custody.

According to the representatives, Kanu is restricted from seeing sun light as needed, among others.

Justice Binta thereafter ordered the DSS to give Nnamdi Kanu access to sunlight as required, access to praying materials, bathing water, change of cloth, and maximum possible comfort in detention.

Nnamdi Kanu who is facing charges bordering on alleged terrorism and treasonable felony, was absent from court today.
