Chadian President Idris Derby is dead.
Details of his death remain sketchy but the army authorities said he died from injuries sustained during a clash with rebel forces.
He was reelected for a sixth term on April 11.
The Chadian army has been battling rebel forces, which launched an assault on the capital, N’Djamena.
