Gunshots rocked Umuahia in Abia state on Friday morning as residents flee for their lives.
According to report, a high lander car conveying a Chinese man, a police escort and a driver were shot at by armed robbers who are suspected to have traced the vehicle from the bank.
The incident occurred at Mission Hill close to Prisons Headquarters, Umuahia. The robbers took advantage of a traffic jam caused by a spoiled vehicle on the road to attack the occupants of the vehicle and rob the Chinese man.
The police escort, died on the scene while the driver was shot on his leg. However, the Chinese man escaped unharmed.
Security personnel in the state have restored calm in the area.
