Abiriba, Abia State — In a bold political call, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, MFR, OON “Ugo’Ena Nde Abiriba” — has issued a rallying cry to all Abiriba sons and daughters to take decisive action in the upcoming voter registration exercise starting Monday, August 18, 2025.
In a letter addressed to the President of the Abiriba Communal Improvement Union (ACIU), leaders of the Labour Party Abiriba Chapter, the Mayor of Ohafia LGA, and all distinguished citizens of Abiriba, Bourdex emphasized that political power is “not inherited, but built through preparation, unity, and purposeful action.”
Bourdex stressed that voter registration is “the first and most important battle of any election”, noting that without strong registration numbers, even the most capable candidate stands on “shaky ground.”
He declared:
“Before votes are cast, they must first be counted in numbers strong enough to command respect. Without the numbers, political influence is nothing more than a wish.”
Referencing the unity felt during the recent Aba reception for the Abiriba community, Bourdex urged leaders and citizens to translate that spirit into measurable results by mobilizing every eligible voter — from spouses and children of voting age to dependents, relatives, and friends across Nigeria and abroad — to register and designate Abiriba as their voting location.
He outlined key action points:
-Mobilize households to ensure 100% voter registration.
-Activate Age Grades, ACIU, AWCO, ACF, student and professional bodies, religious groups, and diaspora networks.
-Liaise with INEC to secure adequate registration points in Abiriba.
-Track and confirm every member’s registration status.
Bourdex issued a stern warning that there is no shortcut, no substitute, and no outsider who will build Abiriba’s political future. He insisted that voter cards must be collected in Abiriba to count towards the community’s political influence.
“We are too often underestimated politically. It’s time to match our reputation for enterprise with undeniable political strength,” he declared.
Bourdex called for unity across party lines, urging the ACIU leadership, Labour Party leaders, incumbent Mayor, and all Abiriba citizens to work as one coordinated team.
“If we act decisively from August 18, we will not just seek political opportunities in 2027 — we will create them,” he concluded.

Nde Abiriba Kaa ni,
From: Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, MFR, OON
Ugo’Ena Nde Abiriba.
August 14, 2025
To:
The President, Abiriba Communal Improvement Union (ACIU) The Leaders of the Labour Party, Abiriba Chapter The Incumbent Mayor of Ohafia LGA All Distinguished Abiriba Sons and Daughters.
Subject: Call for United Action for the Upcoming Voter Registration.
Dear Respected Leaders,
When we gathered in Aba for the reception in honour of our community, I spoke from the heart about the urgent need for Abiriba to build real political weight by ensuring that our people register to vote in Abiriba. That was not just a speech for the day — it was a call to action for our future.
That moment has come. On Monday, August 18th, 2025, the new voter registration exercise will begin. This is not an administrative ritual; it is the first and most important battle of any election. Before votes are cast, they must first be counted in numbers strong enough to command respect. Without the numbers, even the most deserving candidate stands on shaky ground.
We must be honest with ourselves — political influence is not inherited; it is built. Power is taken by those who prepare, unite, and act together with purpose.
Abiriba has the advantage of strong structures — our Age Grades, ACIU, AWCO, ACF, professional and student bodies, religious organizations, and vibrant networks at home and abroad. What we need now is coordination and commitment. We must channel the unity of spirit we felt in Aba into a practical, measurable outcome to produce solid votes from Abiriba in 2027.
Here is the task before us:
To begin the urgent work of Mobilizing Our teeming population to prepare to Register and vote without delay. Ensure we encourage every household to fully registered — spouses, children of voting age, and dependents. Mobilize your associations and networks to track and confirm every member’s registration. Encourage all our relatives and friends across Nigeria and in diaspora to register and designate Abiriba as their voting location. And Finally To: Liaise with INEC to position enough registration point in Abiriba.
As we already know registration can also be done anywhere in the country, but voter cards must be collected in Abiriba. This is the only sure path to political relevance; there is no shortcut, no substitute, and no one else will do it for us.
We are too often underestimated politically. It is time to prove, with quiet determination, that we can match our reputation for enterprise with political strength. I therefore urge us to work together — ACIU leadership, Labour Party leaders, and the incumbent Mayor, All our Sons and Daughters irrespective of party affiliations — as one coordinated team.
If we act decisively from August 18th, we will not just seek political opportunities in 2027 — we will create them.
With highest regards,
Chief David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, MFR, OON
Ugo’Ena Nde Abiriba
Mayor Emeritus, Ohafia LGA.
