The court on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, found them guilty of series of crimes committed between September and October 2017.

Ndou Lukase Rembuluwani, 29, Ndou Ben, 29, and Khoza Small, 28, are part of the local gang that named themselves after the continental terror group, Boko Haram, according to local reports.

The police said the group terrorized communities in the Seshego and Westenburg areas of Limpopo by committing crimes that included murd-er, attempted m-urder, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, housebreaking with intention to rob, robbery with aggravating circumstances, malicious damage to property, theft and house robberies as well as contravening immigration laws and being in the country illegally.

They were arrested on Friday, October 20, 2021, following an attempted robbery that saw one of their accomplices shot and killed.

On the day of their arrest, the suspects sent their girlfriends to the hospital to check if their accomplice was admitted haven fled the robbery scene where he was wounded and were unaware that he had died.

The hospital tipped off the police, who used their girlfriends to track down the accused who were hiding in Seshego. Stolen property along with guns and ammunition were recovered at the hiding place and the men were linked to further crimes.

The Polokwane court sentenced each of the Boko Haram members to an effective 128 years imprisonment each and declared them unfit to possess a firearm.

Reacting to the sentence, Limpopo police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe said;

“We are contented with the long jail sentences that were handed down by the High Court against these heartless thugs whom were terrorising communities in the said areas. The investigating skills of the Detective and team that assisted him are highly appreciated and commendable.”
